Hola fellow foodies! I’m glad you’re here to be a part of what I’m about to do. I’m officially introducing a new facet to my blog which I am equally as passionate about as food and travel – ART.
Most of my friends and family know this about me, as I have been drawing since I was too young to remember and creating artwork as a major part of my culinary career as well. Yes, you heard that right. As a pastry cook for a restaurant in Richmond, VA, I also acted as somewhat of an artist-in-residence, creating chalkboards and customized artwork for the restaurant and its sister businesses. I eventually began to design packaging labels and merchandise for the business.
It was such a joy to be creating something with so much control and in an environment that I loved so much. I realized how much I adored food themed art. Upon compliments from customers, I realized I wasn’t the only one who enjoyed food-themed art. And that it wasn’t crazy to make food the subject of art. I’ve been doing it ever since in various forms over the past 5 years.
Now, living in Spain for 8 months at a time, I don’t have the same connections with local businesses, permitting me to create art as a conventional form of ‘work’. Rather, I am an English teacher and I use my free time to explore my passions, like cooking and art in the personal realm.
When I first arrived to Malaga, I didn’t have wifi in my flat for about 2 months. I did, however, have a brand new watercolor paint set – a medium which I have literally NEVER touched in my 25 years of life. I discovered how much I loved it when I could complement it with my calligraphy and lettering.
I couldn’t stop creating.
My friends and family have been telling me for years to start an Etsy shop. I finally decided to take the plunge with these practical pieces. They’re simple, yet curated, not too expensive and one of a kind. I am able to ship these from Europe to the United States for a relatively low shipping cost of about 6 USD. They have taken about 8 days to arrive thus far, but I won’t guarantee that timeline, as I’m still in the early stages of selling and shipping knowledge.
Just like when I worked in the restaurant biz, I treat every relationship with a customer with care and detail. My goal is to spread smiles and provoke new thoughts through lighthearted artwork. With that being said, I hope (if you’re still reading this) that you see something you like or something a loved one might like and consider supporting my new small business.
I love everything in my home to be different and to feel very personal, as a means of expressing myself through decorating and artwork. This is why the subjects are all quite unique, specific and overall curated. I am selling the original, handmade, one of a kind pieces.
Thank you for taking the time to get to know a little about me as an artist and consider my work. Always feel free to comment with questions or thoughts! Here is a link to my full Etsy shop. Happy holidays!
1. The Chef’s Table-Obsessed Foodie
Inspired by Jeong Kwan, a Zen Buddhist nun and chef of Korean cuisine who was featured on Volume 3 of Chef’s Table. An exceptionally unique chef, who does not actually consider herself a chef, said: ‘If you free yourself from the comparing and jealous mind, your creativity opens up endlessly.’ I appreciate her approach to gastronomy as a spiritual practice and was moved by her humble attitude. When I couldn’t get this quote off of my mind, I felt compelled to illustrate it with pen and watercolors.
The images encompass traditional Buddhist temple food, such as lotus root and other familiar vegetables. This is perfect for a foodie who appreciates veganism, Buddhism and the popular series, Chef’s Table.
It is painted on 11.7 x 8.3 inch acid-free watercolor paper. It ships within 3-5 business days from Spain and will arrive to the United States at the least, one week and at the most, three weeks.
2. The Japanese-Inspired Foodie
For that one friend who loves a good bowl of ramen.
This was simply inspired by one of my (and my boyfriend’s) favorite pastimes. Drinking some strong beers or wines on a cozy evening and brewing big pots of crazy ramen. I know we can’t be the only ones who feel this way, am I right? Maybe for your bestie, maybe for your significant other, maybe for yourself!
It is painted on 11.7 x 8.3 inch acid-free watercolor paper. It ships within 3-5 business days from Spain and will arrive to the United States at the least, one week and at the most, three weeks.
My window into Japanese cuisine began with pork katsu don at Akida in Richmond, Virginia. Now, I consider tonkatsu to be a sacred food experience of umami and I wanted to pay homage to that through an illustration.
This is a smaller sized watercolor and lettering piece, original, handmade and one of a kind. Reading “Tonkatsu” and “1899 Rengatei Tokyo” (The origin of Tonkatsu being a restaurant named Rengatei in Tokyo in 1899). Perfect artwork for framing, especially in a kitchen, restaurant or for foodies and fans of Japanese food and culture!
It is painted on 5.8 x 8.3 inch acid-free watercolor paper. It ships within 3-5 business days from Spain and will arrive to the United States at the least, one week and at the most, three weeks.
3. The Boozy Foodie
We all have that one friend or family member whose answer to everything is “margaritas!”
And who wouldn’t want to be able to glance over at the wall for a recipe instead of sifting through cookbooks or pinterest, right? This is a classic and works well for a bar space or kitchen. Great for foodies, chefs, bartenders, mixologists or for fans of margaritas and tequila!
This margarita wall art illustration is one of a kind, original and handmade. I use my lettering style and watercolors on an 11.7 x 8.3 inch piece of acid-free watercolor paper. 4. The Stoner Foodie
Who doesn’t love a little good old weed humor? I can imagine a few doughnut-loving friends who would appreciate this, being fans of all things fried. The Wake & Bake wall art is a one of a kind, handmade ORIGINAL watercolor and lettering illustration. Perfect artwork for framing, especially in a kitchen or for the fun foodie!

5. The Hip Hop-Influenced Foodie
Two of my greatest loves in this world are food and hip hop. Coolio falls into both of those categories with this line from Fantastic Voyage, “if you can’t take the heat, get your ass out the kitchen, we on a mission.”

When I’m cooking in the kitchen, I’m jamming. Wu Tang is one of my favorite groups and representations of hip hop and I felt the urge to interpret their harder than frozen dough track, C.R.E.A.M, in a lighthearted way.

All right, here’s the real deal for my craft beer nerds. 8. The Self-Respecting Foodie
Enough said. One of my favorite quotes about food. We all know someone who feels this way. For me, it’s my awesome dad. He always taught me to feed myself well and plenty – sometimes, it’s nice to have a reminder for ourselves way to remind everyone in our homes that this is our take on food.

12. The Multi-Lingual Foodie
I’ve always been inspired by the beautiful world of languages and how it intertwines with universal food. Here, I illustrated popular species of citrus and complemented them with my script-style calligraphy. Each fruit is titled in Spanish, followed by the translation for the fruit names in (varying sequences): French, English, Portuguese, Dutch, Finnish, German, Italian and Swedish. I’m quite sure that I’m this friend which I speak of. Lover of all foods of Spain – tapas, cured meats, cheeses and wine. This is a little jamon leg with a banner-style accent, holding my lettering, which reads the two superior types of jamon: Iberico and serrano!

I appreciate you taking the time to stop by, Juli!
These are beautiful and so much fun! The Boozy Foodie and The Japanese-Inspired Foodie could live quite happily together in my house!
I’m glad you can see ’em the way I do! Thanks for reading Lorna 🙂
I love that Oh, Hoppy Day piece. My best friend would love it 🙂
What a creative way! Caters all kinds of foodies for sure
Wow, you’re talented. The only time I could draw something nice is when I’m totally depressed.
I totally understand, Summer – a lot of my artwork stems from that part of life as well. These being a little more upbeat, they’re sort of my substitute for cooking when I have intense back pain in the kitchen. Finding new ways to create and find inspiration is tricky, but one of the most rewarding and personalized things in this world.
These are great ideas. I love the edible flowers one!
Gracias, Charlotte! It’s still available!
Oh my goodness! Love all of these! Especially number 11.
One of my favorites as well, Carrie!
Wow these are all so cute ! I think my favorite are the edible flowers and Tonkatsu 🙂

Beautiful work! As an avid gardener, I especially liked the “fresh veggie” piece! Will bookmark this site and visit again for some artwork (after Christmas)…
Looking forward to your visit, Kelly!
These are so cool! It’s awesome that you got your inspiration while working in a kitchen, and were able to add your touch to the businesses!
Thanks Samantha! I love tying everything together to the world of food!
Awesome! I can think of someone to match each of these. For myself, the Edible Flowers and the Fresh Veggie Foodie are my choices.
You are indeed very artistic! I love your art, they’re so cute!
Thanks Mary Jane!
